I am frustrated in trying to get health care providers to understand that the exercise protocol is geared towards early intervention and is very basic movement to start the recovery process. The most common comment is that "our patients are not ready for pilates exercises." I try to stress the benefits of early movement to the overall recovery for the patient. Any ideas of ways to go about getting doctors and patients to give the program a try?

I had the opportunity to talk with Doreen the other day on a project I'm working on. Her vitality and intelligence sings through the phone line. My first words to her: I wish I'd known you when my lymph nodes were removed during my breast cancer treatment. The good news for all of us? She transformed her cancer experience into something extraordinary breast cancer survivors can now benefit from. I urge all of you to check out the Pink Ribbon Program web page, consider becoming a trainer and spread the word about this Pilates-based program for recovery of your arm following breast cancer surgery.

With all good wishes and thanks for your advocacy,
Jody
