Two major components to healing during cancer treatment are rest and relaxation. A majority of this battle is a mental game, therefore it is crucial to submerse yourself into a complete state of peace, mentally and physically. With a little discipline, anything is possible. Some really brilliant techniques to consider include yoga, qi gong, meditation, massage, and/or aromatherapy. Think zen! Any of these modalities can be mixed and matched and done in the comfort of your own home. Take twenty minutes a day to sit quietly and reflect. Have the melodic sounds of soft, calming music float through your space and into your mind. Light a candle. Focus on your breathing as you inhale faith and dispel your fears. Feel yourself healing. Take comfort in knowing that you are not alone. You are not your cancer. Smile. You are beautiful. You are healthy. You are whole. Remember, nourishing your mind and spirit are equally as important as mending the physical body. These are fantastic strategies to implement in the morning as you begin your day and/or a very soothing way to destress and silence the mind before you go to sleep at night. As with anything, begin slowly. Find your level of comfort. There is no wrong way here. Most of all, have fun. Happiness is an essential and integral part of the healing process. Be well, my friends 🙂
