CHICAGO (September 2016) – The 10th Anniversary Imerman Angels Wings of Hope Gala on Saturday, September 17 at the Ritz-Carlton, Chicago welcomed 270 guests and raised more than $375,000. The funds benefit Imerman Angels’ mission to provide connections that enable one-on-one support for cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers. To date, Imerman Angels has made over 29,500 connections in all 50 states and in over 60 countries.
The evening featured a special ceremony emceed by acclaimed actress and Chicago native, Bonnie Hunt, to honor City of Hope and Dr. Steven T. Rosen, Provost, Chief Scientific Officer and Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Beckman Research Institute for the City of Hope. Hunt first pursued her acting career at the Second City Theater while working as an oncology nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, under the direction of Dr. Rosen at the time.
“When somebody hears ‘you have cancer,’ as a patient, you want to talk to somebody who has been there, done that, and can help raise you up. Imerman Angels is a brilliant organization,” commented Hunt.
“We were thrilled to present the 2016 Angel Award for Outstanding Medical Service in the Cancer Community to City of Hope, and one of Imerman Angels’ original medical advisory board members, Dr. Rosen,” says Imerman Angels CEO/Executive Director Benjamin Bornstein.
The program also included a cocktail reception, seated dinner, remarks from Imerman Angels co-founder Jonny Imerman, co-founder John May, and Bornstein, a silent and live auction featuring extraordinary experiences including a dinner party with Bonnie Hunt, and a day with the Chicago Blackhawks hosted by Blackhawks Vice President and General Manager Stan Bowman, who is on the board of Imerman Angels. The evening was capped off with live music and dancing courtesy of Dr. Bombay.
Tickets for the event were $350, or $500 for VIP. For more information on Imerman Angels visit www.ImermanAngels.org or call 866-IMERMAN (463-7626).
