Background

PV Reporter and MPN Cancer Connection were founded by David Wallace. When David was diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera (PV) in 2009, he discovered there was limited and often conflicting information available on Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs). MPNs are a closely related group of blood cancers where the bone marrow cells that produce the body’s blood cells function and develop abnormally.

He also realized early on in his diagnosis, the importance of advocating for himself to best manage his PV. David was grateful for the early support and mentorship of fellow MPN patients and wanted a way to give back to the community. With a professional background in “high-tech” sales and college studies in sociology, David has a passion for finding solutions and helping others.

PV Reporter

In 2013, David used his skill set to create PV Reporter, a comprehensive patient-focused website for MPNs. The website serves as a hub for patients to research their MPN blood cancer. PV Reporter offers visitors a wealth of educational resources, articles, patient stories, videos and the latest news on the treatment for MPNs.  Since day one, the focus has been on helping MPN patients and caregivers stay informed, connected and empowered.

MPN Cancer Connection

In 2015, David founded MPN Cancer Connection (MPN-CC), a patient led 501©3, non-profit organization.  It was formed to create awareness that MPN patients are “cancer patients” and should have complete access to local and national programs and benefits.  MPN-CC provides support services, resources and referrals to help patients manage the on-going emotional and financial challenges of living with a chronic cancer.

A Growing Need to directly help MPN Cancer Patients and Caregivers

As a small organization, we have limited resources.  Although, support is available online and via social media, there’s a need to do more.  Patients and caregivers are asking for more personal support with experienced mentors.  There’s nothing like talking with a fellow patient (or caregiver) who has walked in your shoes and understands the problems you are going through.

Partnering with a Leader in Cancer Support – Imerman Angels

In order to better serve our growing community, PV Reporter & MPN Cancer Connection is partnering with Imerman Angels.  Imerman Angels provides personalized one-on-one cancer support for cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers.  The partnership will allow us to offer their “best of breed” services to our readers and through social media channels.  We look forward to working together to help better serve the MPN community.
