Psychosocial 101

Description: This live virtual event offers the foundational understanding of psycho-oncology; providing attendees with tools and knowledge to better support their patient’s, loved one’s and their own mental and emotional well being throughout the cancer journey. Attendees will learn how psychological and emotional factors can influence the cancer experience, and how they can integrate psychosocial support into their practice. The talk will explore common psychological challenges faced by cancer patients, as well as strategies for providing compassionate care, improving patient quality of life and fostering a holistic approach to treatment.

This Session Will:
—> Define Psycho-Oncology: Understand the scope of psycho-oncology and its relevance in cancer care.
—> Identify Common Psychological Issues in Cancer Patients: Recognize the psychological challenges cancer patients commonly face, including anxiety, depression and coping difficulties.
—> Promote Whole-Person Care: Understand the importance of offering both emotional support and clinical care to foster improved quality of life and holistic healing for cancer patients.
—> Address some strategies for offering effective support while practicing good self care and managing compassion fatigue burnout.
